OF ACHES, PAINS AND MICROBIOLOGY PRACTICAL

Two incidents today reminded me of how unhealthy I was.

The first realization happened whilst I was walking back to my room during lunch break. Normally, I don’t go back during lunchtime because it isn’t really worthwhile. Th walk to and fro alone takes about 15 minutes. But today, I had a mission. I was gonna do my laundry that I had been postponing to do and the washing machine was only free in the afternoons. Hehe…

As I was walking, I felt a slight pain in my right knee. I’m unsure of how I injured it, but I do recall some incidents that could have caused it. Like the time when I arrived in kuantan in the wee hours, me and syahadah. We took the night bus. Arriving that morning, in a sleepy state of mind, freezing to death coz I forgot to bring a sweater, I just took the first cab that offered a ride, lagipun the man just took my bag so I had to follow him.. As I was going down the high platform, I fell slightly causing some pressure to my knee. But I couldn’t care less bout it then. But it’s kinda haunting me now. And there were also other times.

The second incident occurred as I was rushing to catch the bus. I was at the computer lab when Asma’ called and reminded me of my promise to accompany her to the bus station. She wanted to buy a ticket home. Since I didn’t really have anything to do, I’d agreed to go with her. Well, i was afraid that the bus might leave me if I was late so I ran. That was when I felt the pain in my left iliac fossa or my lower abdomen. Alhamdulillah it wasn’t my right iliac fossa or it might be an indication for acute appendicitis. Hehe…

Hmm… I just remembered what Dr Zawawi, the alternative doctor we consulted said that doctors in America died 22 years earlier than other people due to lack of essential minerals. Now, I’m taking an RM180 bottle of essential minerals twice daily. Just started taking them today.

Enough on my ailments. Actually I’m quite happy because I’ve had my laundry done, cleaned my wardrobe, wrapped my table and did some keceriaan for my room. It looks lovely now.

Now, at this very moment, most of my friends are preparing for the Eid gathering tomorrow. The 1st years have to handle it. I’m not involved with it. But, Cbah, Nik and Asma’ are at my room preparing for the Ummatic Week we’re having next week. There’s gonna be an exhibition on the Ummatic issues. Cbah and I are in-charge. Nik and Asma’ are busy with the talk on freemason and Zionism.

This afternoon, we had a microbiology practical. It was quite cool. We were given an introduction to the safety precautions in the microbio lab. This time it’s way strict than last block’s practicals coz we’re dealing with bacterial cultures that are potentially hazardous. So strict measures must be taken. We had to learn the ASEPTIC technique. That is the technique to prevent contamination of specimens. We were all given an inoculating loop each and we have to keep it till the end of block. If we fail to return it, we’ll be fined RM20. Despite the tedious methods involved, the practical was quite interesting. Can’t wait for parasitology practical. It’ll be absolutely gruesome.

I’m spending quite a lot of time jotting down the happenings of the day. But, Prof Pakeer said that it’s a good thing to write a journal. So, that’s my justification, I’m just taking his advice. Heh. BTW, he’s a totally cool lecturer. He’s artistic, a great talker, and he’s and an expert in his field which is parasitology. He showed us some of the pictures he drew. They were quite neat.

If u’ve managed to read this far, u’d have realized how bad an explainer and storyteller I am. Kakyung said that I speak like a teenager. Hey, I’m still young eh.

That’s all for tonight.
