my dilemma

The time is 0016. I feel very tired and somewhat dizzy. I just got the t-shirts from Fahmi. After waiting for so long for him to pass it to me (and some persistent nagging), he finally called me up and gave ‘em to me. They’re not the average t-shirts you can get at any mall. They’re the long-sleeved shirts that you can only buy at certain places, and from certain people. Immediately, asma’, syahadah and am bought one each. I’m thinking of buying one too.

Before that, I was looking through the stuff for the Catalyst since kak nurul personally came to the room. I had to at least go thru ‘em once. Around isya’, me and my old roommates at matrix had celebrated the birthdays of our friends, wani and najwa. Fatimah had bought a blueberry cake, some mushroom soup, rojak and nasi goring cina. It’s been some time since we all got together and just hung out.

My dilemma

Yesterday, around noon, I had to greet or welcome the arrival of the 3rd-year UKM students that would be doing their elective posting here at HTAA. So, since I was in-charge of the Edu and Info Bureau, kak miza asked me to be the one doing it. She had to go back home to kelantan. I had to find someone else to help me. I didn’t have to sambut them with any kompang or such thing, just make sure that they got the key to their room and show them where the main facilities are. It wasn't like the last time with the Indonesian students. Susah nak mintak tolong orang kat sini coz everyone is very busy. Especially since my block consists mostly of seniors.

The whole morning I was revising or attempting to revise since I’d anticipated their arrival around 2pm. Before they arrived, I wanted to make sure everything was okay so I went to the security office to ask for the keys to the room. No one was there. So I went to the room itself to check if it was already opened or not. It wasn’t. So, I called the security guard and asked if he’d open it. He said the students had to arrive first. I thought, okay, I’ll wait till they arrived. At 3.00pm they came. Since there were no brothers to greet them, I called up zaid, my headcomm to come down. Kam, I didn’t know where he was and Shams was still at home. Then, I immediately phoned the pakcik guard. He said he couldn’t do anything coz he’d not received any info. I was surprised but could still maintain my cool. He told me to deal with bro amil the mahallat officer. Bro amil said the students had mentioned in their letter that they’d be arriving on Monday. He couldn’t do anything since it wasn’t office hours and told me to find them some outside accommodation. I was flabbergasted. Clueless. Shocked. I didn’t know what to do. Zaid came but he was as clueless as I was, more in fact since he hadn’t the slightest knowledge of these UKM students coming here. It might have slipped my mind to inform him. Heh, and all this while I was on his case for not informing me things. Here I was doing it to him. Anyway, there I was, supposed to be handling the situation efficiently yet failing to do the job properly. Starting to panic, I called up bro syed, the president of MSC and told him of the situation at hand. He said he’d call Kam (who we later found out was at the hospital and couldn’t help at all) and that he’d come ASAP. It took him a while to get here. During that time, yusran came down, and he called kak mawad but they too couldn’t do anything. When bro syed did arrive, he’d had to sweet talk the pak guard into giving him the keys. He finally succeeded, I dunno how. All I know is there’s some really serious miscommunication somewhere. I tak bersalah. Finally, after an hour the whole thing was settled and I could get back to my revising.

Oh yeah, ustazah hamidah’s safely delivered a baby girl yesterday. I got the message at 18:37:18. just as azza and I were going out to get ourselves some dinner and a slurpy
