It was the best reason i could think of for going to SMIH; Teachers' Day. Every other day, i didn't have a strong enough justification to go and meet the teachers. I asked Wardah if she wanted to go and she agreed. You see, when one has been out of school for a while now, one cannot go to school alone for fear of boredom.
The school environment has changed so much. Many new teachers you don't know. And the students all stare at you wondering who you are. The only batch that still knows me would be the form five students and prolly some form four who remembers me from MMH.
We went to school around 10 am by taxi (us girls wif no car hav to resort to that). The sun was already glaring by then. We went to find a cooler place with teachers around. What better place than the teachers' room. Ustazah Hawanis was there and so were a few other teachers.
They asked us how we were and it somehow came out how busy our schedules were. Ust Anis said that was not surprising and it was due to them that we are busy today. Her words couldn't be more true. She also commented on the current batch of fifth formers, how they weren't like the 2nd and 3rd batch (eheh) who could challenge her when she raised any issues during Bahasa lessons, especially the 2nd batch.
Ustazah Jamilah was tired as always yet still running about because she was the director of the Teachers' day programme.
Then there was the assembly where the prizes for the games were given away. There were also awards for the teachers in certain categories. Ust Jamilah won Guru paling Prihatin. Ust. Kartini won Guru paling dedikasi. Us Ezadin and Ust Zanariah won Guru paling Popular. In her speech, Ust Kamaliah mentioned the anecdotes. She said that most of the entries referred to the teachers as being the most memorable thing(??) of school.
The performances came next including sajaks by 2 banins, a nasyid by Najahan (which wasn't all that besides the percussion and the ad hoc Ust Shahidah who played the traingle), and a solo by Us Masdi. Then the form fivers gave each teacher a present from them. Then there was the usual jamuan.
One comment i can't forget is by Ust Hayati who told us to pray for suami soleh yang bujang, because you never know. Hihi, out of all the things to pesan.
Throughout the day, Wardah and i were pointing out each of the youngsters we knew whom were siblings of other people we knew. It wasn't hard to tell since most had the trademark faces.
We had a wonderful day.
(In the evening, began my painful muscle aches which i'd anticipated the day before)
