INTRODUCING THE KEY PLAYERS IN MY LIFE

This was taken in year 2002.

MY FAMILY

AYAH
My tall, dark and handsome dad. He’s my role model. Why look far for a role model when you’ve already got one in the house…hehe. He’s the most hardworking, dedicated, charismatic, handsome guy I know. Always trying to improve himself whenever he can. Has been known to show leadership qualities early in his childhood years when he led his brothers in mischief, often followed by a sound scolding by his father. He’s always recommending some book for us to read. I just read up to the muqaddimah and that’s as far as I read. He can be extremely stern at times, but that’s when we really do something wrong. Other times, he’s really cool to be around. He loves watching National Geography and animals especially wild ones. Currently his world is golf, golf and more golf.

MAK
The petite, fair and ever young mom. Many people cannot believe that she’s already got six grown up kids with two already wedded. She’s the finest cook in the world. Or at least to us she is. I haven’t inherited her fine culinary skills yet, but I shall one day Insya Allah. Her PR and communication skills are excellent too, and again I lack in that area. She is now into counseling despite having a degree in chemistry. She can be very strict with us but we know its just coz she loves us and wants the best for us all. She’now working as the program manager of Iman ELC.

KAK YUNG (the unpredictable artist)
The eldest and tallest of the Banaat (daughters) of Azraai. The most mature. The problem-solver. She’s the one who just knows what to do when everyone else is clueless.
She’s the one who buys the books and CDs. She’s the one who irons all our clothes on the night of Eid. She’s my bestest friend of all. Currently a Human Resource Executive on weekdays and arts teacher on weekends.

KAK NGAH (the caring ustazah)
She resembles mak a lot. She’s the most kindhearted, caring, helpful, patient soul I’ve ever known. The most ‘baik’ amongst us five. My spiritual advisor…hehe. She’s in Egypt now studying Usuluddin.

KAKYANG (the feared nerd)
I dunno how to describe myself . I’m my worst critic.

KAK TEH (the popular chatterbox)
Her aim in form five was to ensure that the whole school knew her by the time she graduated from high school and believe me, she achieved it. The most ‘cun’ amongst us, most photogenic and also most perasan. She is very friendly and can get along with almost anyone. Even on the first day of PKN, she’d already formed her own group of friends that stuck throughout the course. Currently doing law in IIUM’s matriculation centre.

KAK CHIK aka ADEQ (the cute, two-faced joker)
She leads a double life. A quiet, shy girl at school by day but the joker at home by night. Everyone just cracks up at her antiques. Her features and characteristics resemble mine a lot, but she’s a bit cuter. Many have mistaken her for me and vice versa. She’s in Form 5 now. Gonna be busy preparing for SPM.

HAMMAD (the fat brat???)
Hehe…he’d be punching me if he read this. Hammad’s a bit dependent since he’s the youngest of 6. He’s got lots of big sisters to do stuff for him. Since he’s the only boy, he inherited most of ayah’s illnesses mainly rhinitis. Tough luck for him. His best friend is Aiman, our next door neighbour. His interests are playing computer games, watching cartoons and reading Enid Blyton stories besides those comics he buys. Whenever we go anywhere, he always brings a bag full of books lest he becomes bored. Even on Kakyung’s wedding day, he couldn’t leave his supply behind. However, he’s still my only brother. Since kakyung got married he’s got two big brothers to befriend. Good for him. He’s also gonna sit for a major exam this year; UPSR.
