kak aliya's walimah

Kak Aliya's safely married now, alhamdulillah. i think Muthanna's one helluva lucky guy to end up with her.

i came back home this weekend because;

  1. i havent been home for a month
  2. its tradition to go home after the 1st minitest
  3. i really wanted to attend kak aliya's walimatulurus

i love going to weddings (must add) of people i know, because its a social event. its a gathering of most of the people you know to celebrate the joining of two hearts (cardiac anastomosis) in matrimony.

the akad nikah was done in the morning at the bride's house. me, kak ainal, kak farhana and fauzun went. there we met kak aini, kak ika and kak masyitah. a couple of ikhwah came too. since the living room was packed with people by the time we arrived, we had to sit at the stairs. heh, dpt bird's eye view... best, best. alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly.

after that all four of us went to the dewan alumni to put up the backdrop that kak ainal and i had made the previous night for the board outside... simple sangat. hmm, i doubt people even noticed it, mak said she didn't.

the majlis kenduri was from 12pm -5pm. mak had asked me to help out handing out the doorgifts with some friends so when i went with mak and ayah at around 1.15pm, i immedietly started work. kak farhana and kak ainal arrived quite late so i was the only one among the 'egg girls' or 'sweets girls' who wasnt a family member.

since mak and ayah couldn't stay long because they were in the middle of a facilitating skills course. kak chik got bored and balik with maryam. hammad was bored too and balik with sape ntah. so i stayed there till mak and ayah could pick me up or balik with kak farhana.

the good thing about staying throughout the maljis was that i could meet a lot of people and chat with them. some i havent seen for ages like;

  • kak aliya for starters.... been ages since i actually met her...
  • kak ainal too... glad i could spend time wif her
  • ust md isa, my quran teacher waktu darjah 3 and 4. we had classes at pejabat jim. others who'd joined too was kak ngah, kak ainal, kak aliya and amirah. i hardly recognized him at first.
  • ustaz yunus and ustazah azma, my teachers during primary school and others
  • ustaz nik, ustazah zuraidah and the baby yang selama ni i tak penah tgk lagi
  • ustzh rosmawati who came all the way from bangi by bus
  • high school teachers; ustzh zanariah, ustzh suhana, ustzh norizah, ustzh norimah etc
  • makcik fati (kak ainal's mom), she's so jovial and wonderful
  • all the mak cik and pakciks and alumni yang lame dah tak jumpe
  • friends; amirah, aina, qayyah, k ainul, raudhah, bie, k effa hani and baby, k syazana and k fadhilah, k najidah, k maryam etc
  • ihfaz, my coursemate (muthanna's kisas friend)... he was shocked to see me there. er, this one slalu jumpe kat class
  • owh, and the banin or ikhwah are all so massive now esp the juniors

there was a similar pattern whenever i'd chat with those who studied in egypt. they knew muthanna as a toddler and many commented on how nakal he was :)

hmm, some interesting comments about me by some;

  • eh, dah cerah (huh, was i that dark dulu? haha)
  • cuti ke? when i answered that i was just back for the weekend, most were kagum that i'd come back just for the wedding :) i wouldn't miss it for the world.
  • ust isa: awla same mcm dulu... ringan mulut. all i could reply was a :)
  • ust yunus: anti tak terliur ke? (when looking at the nikah pics being projected at that time)
  • anti tgh study law kan? (surprisingly, there were quite a number of people who thought i was doing law. huh, me and law? how absurd is that?
  • many didn't even know what and where i was studying.
  • some still mistook me for hafizah... do i look that young? ;)

......................................................................................................................................................................

i'd just finished my 18-epidsode, korean drama-Love story inHarvard marathon with kak chik yesterday. the story's about a law student falling in love with a medical student at Harvard University... naim was the one who suggested i watch it and burnt for me the dvd and even posted it all the way to kuantan. kak chik and i watched all 18 hours... we didn't want to fastforward much lest we missed any meaningful parts.

hmm, my comments;

  • the whole plot boleh tahan lah
  • koreans ni asyek nangis je
  • they're quite ganas... asyik bertumbuk je
  • lagu2 dia yg sedey2 je
  • slow sgt cite die
  • i could hardly understand their english..pelat sgt!
  • hmm, i think they're doing a lot more intimate scenes than before
  • a lot of my predictions of the happenings were quite accurate... haha, i can replace the director :)
  • i wonder whether a doctor-lawyer relationship is advisable in reality???

the package containing the dvd :)
