My week’s report

Alhamdulillah…I have my computer back. After a tiring week, I let out a sigh of relief and count my blessings. A brief recap of the week (for my own muhasabah lest i forget);

Monday, was the PBL presentation and then at night we had our jilsah.

Tuesday, epid quiz, anat practical, my internal frustration, and tajwid class

Wednesday, anat and epid lectures as usual, silat, then at nite gi comp lab to do journal study and epid assignment…frust gile sebab tak jumpe much…tanak jadi epidemiologist dah

Thursday was Teha’s birthday, so me, sibah and shidah decided to celebrate all the birthdays that we’d missed of our former express classmates all at once. We went to Megamall and celebrated at Kenny Rogers and also bought 2 cakes. Teha’s roommates also gave her a surprise party but I was too tired and too full to join, but I didn’t feel like studying so I read the cerpen I’d saved. Owh, my scholar dah masuk…yay, finally.

Friday, anat tuto then halaqah which I came late to coz I‘d gone and seen Dr Imad to submit my seminar draft, then an epid lecture. Tengahari we ate the left over cake and in the evening was an osteology lecture on the lower limbs, that nite i didn’t have any modal for tasmi’ but came down nonetheless. Dr.Melur was busy finding facis for the KRJ program on sat and sun, only me and Asma’ were available though we were quite reluctant to go. In the end, we felt compelled to go and agree but we could only go later in the evening because I wanted to go to the debate training.

Saturday, we had one lecture with Dr Jamal then I thought I had some free time when suddenly zaid kadir sprang upon me the visit from the Pahang matriculation centre that would be arriving any minute. Usually, I’m not involved, but yesterday they were short of people so I had to jump in and do what I could. The thing is we had the vaguest idea about the whole visit. There was some communication problem between the KMP, STAD and us, so we had to make the best of the whole mess. I ended up babbling nonsense in front trying to explain and introduce UIA to them. The best part was the tour of the campus, we got to show off the little bit of knowledge that we had…hehe. In the dissection room, I got to see the cadavers in the formalin-filled containers. I’d never been in there before. It was fascinating yet somewhat scary seeing the stark-naked cadavers like that. I couldn’t last long in that room because of the strong formalin which caused my eyes to water. I could even feel it in my throat.

I managed to run away from the group for a while to make a phone call to the Pahang state health department for my epid assignment with Asma’.

After lunch and zuhur, I went for the 1st session of the debate training. The trainer was brother Latif from UIA Gombak who was a Bangladeshi. Only ten of us came. Yup, that’s the usual amount of participants. Susah gile nak buat program kat sini due to the clash of schedules between the batches. We focused on how to speak effectively and how to organize our points. After listening to all the theories, each of us were given time to prepare for a 3-minute speech on the topics provided or any other topic of choice. When the 15 minutes were up, I still didn’t have much points for the topic I’d picked, panicking I tried to think of a topic which I knew very well and I ended up with.. ‘Why I like my name so much?’. When I went over my points, chua, nadia and azza were laughing their heads off…hehe.. They called me self-obsessed and full of myself :P I didn’t really have much content nor any deep message but I managed to attract their attention, and for me, that was enough… heh.. I guess I have to work on expanding my knowledge, can’t merepek all my life can i.

Since I enjoyed the session so much, it was late when I got back to my room. I had to rush to bathe, pray and pack and by then mak cik Yah had already come to pick us up. Thoughts of not having to go to the KRJ program crossed my mind several times but I didn’t go through with it.

I’m glad I didn’t when we arrived at Santiana Resort. Sian the kids. Since we came late, they hadn’t any activity before that.The program was another ‘Jom Bersantai’ like the previous one only this time the participants were less. Many others couldn’t make it. There were only 4 girls ranging from standard 6 to form 5 and 7 boys with the similar range. There was only one male faci who’d just finished his SPM. He got 10 A1’s. 11 participants and 3 facis, baik tak yah wat program.

One could count the number of families that had participated. It’s the same time every time. I was frustrated with the way the whole program was handled. Just like last time, they expected us, the facis, to think of the LDK’s ourselves when they just notified us the night before. We didn’t have time to prepare much and had to do the best with whatever we had. There were a few inputs and the food was okay, but what about the activities. Didn’t they think of that? If I was a participant, I’d be serik and never go again. But I guess these kids had not much of a choice.

That night, according to the tentative, we were supposed to watch a CD but they didn’t have much interest in the Harun Yahya CD. The conditions, I guess, were unfavourable. I was yawning all through the night because I was exhausted.

The next morning, Sunday, we had a kuliah subuh then we went jogging at the beach. After breakfast, me and asma’ didn’t know what to do since the pakciks didn't allow us to mandi pantai so we shared some self-defense tips with them. Then, mak cik Azah and pakcik Ibrahim came out of the blue. Seeing that we weren’t doing much, pakcik gave a short account of his trip to Acheh and how we should be thankful and prepare ourselves mentally and spiritually for any disasters.

Then at 11.30 we played charades and I continued some more merepeking to the kids. It’s hard to address such a wide-range crowd and maintain their attention to what you’re talking. I hope the organizers plan more carefully next time or I might just not have the heart to be involved any more. One thing interesting though was my first encounter with a ‘belangkas’. I never knew there was such an animal before. It was unique. Like a crab in a bomb shelter.

Back at the hostel, I slept the whole afternoon. Then, makcik Rokiah came and handed me my computer, all fixed and better. I’m practically euphoric… thank you Allah for your blessings on me.

Emm, did I say brief…oops :P
