The other day, a friend asked me how I would juggle my personal and professional life in the future, when I do reach that phase that is. I answer now with this quote.
“The most important single factor in the career of a woman doctor is the man she marries –who, I might add, is like anyone else, capable of change”.
Marcia Angell
Senior Lecturer at Harvard Medical School
Former Editor-In-Chief, New England Journal of Medicine
I got this quote from the book 'This Side of Doctoring -reflections from Women in Medicine' compiled by Dr Eliza Lo Chin which I borrowed from the library.
‘It is a collection of stories, poems, and essays that capture the essence of being a woman physician -reflections on doctoring from a woman’s perspective, sketches of personal life from a doctor’s perspective. These are the poignant narratives of joy, frustration, regret and fulfillment, a testament to the struggles and triumphs of women in medicine for the past century and a half, from the very early pioneer doctors to the medical students of the 21st century.’
I haven’t finished reading the book yet, I’ve only scanned through but it has certainly encaptivated me to the extent that I want to have a copy of my own.
Ps...You’d think after going to and back everyday for more than 10 years I would know the directions to my own school… huh, I had to request help from a friend… teruknya me.
